1. Low competition keyword: Go to the Google keywords tool and find a low competition keyword that matches the content you are going write. My original idea was to write a post called: “How to SEO optimize a post or page for Google”. 2. A decent amount of searches: No one searched for my example above so after a few minutes I settled on: “SEO news” with 5,400 exact searches.
In this case, I decided on: “SEO news: optimize your blog in 4 easy steps” with a matching meta description that explains what the post is about. Important Note! The phrase you want to rank for should be at the beginning of the title.
1. Include the keywords in the title 2. Nice image that matches the title 3. For images, optimize the ‘alt text’ so it relates to the title.
1. Internal links: After all, the purpose of the post is to help the visitor with their query. So if you have other relevant content on your site, add links to them. 2. External links: These can be set to ‘no follow’ and should always open in a new tab. This makes the browsing experience easier for the visitor and they also don’t have to leave your site. (This could also apply to select internal links as well.) 3. Anchor texts: Don’t forget to incorporate appropriate anchor texts for your internal and external links. A good anchor text should mirror the meta title of the page it links to. If you use these four steps of our SEO news, you’ll be well on the way to bringing some SEO magic to your blog! If you need help, we also offer content writing services for your website, blog or other content needs.
